Arc stops working on December 22, 2026

The Browser Company announced on October 22, 2026, that Arc will stop working on Mac and Windows on December 22, 2026. Arc accounts close that day, and their data is deleted within 30 days. After that, Arc won’t open. Before then, save your spaces: in Arc, choose Arc › Settings › Advanced › Export Data. Dawn can import that file.

Move to Dawn in a minute

  1. Get Dawn

    Download Dawn for Mac and open it.

  2. Choose Arc

    When Dawn opens, choose Arc on the Bring your tabs screen, then Import. Later, it’s in Settings › Import.

  3. That’s it

    Each Arc space arrives as a new space, named like “Work (Arc import)”, and your favorites join your favorites. Merge spaces in Settings › Profiles if you’d rather have fewer.

When does Arc stop working?

On December 22, 2026, on Mac and Windows. The Browser Company announced it on October 22, 2026; Arc accounts close that day and their data is deleted within 30 days.

What comes over from Arc?

Every space, its pinned tabs and folders (folders inside folders too), and your favorites. Unpinned tabs, history, passwords, extensions, Boosts, and Easels stay in Arc.

Can I use the file from Arc’s Export Data?

Yes. Arc’s Settings › Advanced › Export Data saves Arc Data Export.md, a list of your spaces and their links. In Dawn’s setup, choose File… and pick it. Later, use Settings › Import › Another browser. Folders and pinned tabs come over; favorites arrive as pinned tabs, since the file doesn’t tell them apart.

What about my passwords and extensions?

Install your password manager and other extensions from the Chrome Web Store in Dawn, then sign in. Dawn doesn’t copy passwords from other browsers.

Is Dawn free?

Yes. Dawn is free, with no account to make.

Does anything change in Arc?

No. Dawn only reads Arc’s files; everything there stays as it was.
